Running Away

Mina quietly slipped through her wondow, snapping back in the screen after her. She dropped to the ground. Storked. Unwind. Ran through her head like a broken record. A few days ago she had run across the unwind order on her mother's desk. Her parents had never told her she was storked, either. But there it was, on the order. Storked. She thought again and headed into the woods by her house.

Adam sat in the woods, bored and attentive. God...what if I get caught? Pfft, I won't. He snapped up as he heard footsteps near, and pulled out a small butterfly knife.

Mina was a little ways into the woods when she saw a boy. Shit... She thought, ducking behind a tree, pulling out a switchblade, and hoping he haden't noticed her.

Adam walked to his right, and looked in all directions. "Must be nothing," He mumbled, and put the butterfly knife up.

Mina tried to sneak away as quietly as possible but accidentally stepped on a stick as she did so, making it crack loudly. "Shit." She muttered to herself.

Adam turned quickly, and saw a girl. "Oh, hello." He said, seeing she wasn't a threat.

"Hi." She said cautiously, not putting away her blade.

He looked at his watch. 1:47 AM Adam looked back up at her. "What are you doing here?" He asked.

"What are /you/ doing here?" She asked calmly instead of anwsering.

He sighed. "Nice answer," He muttered. "I'm a runaway." He said simply, not really caring about telling her.

"An unwind?" She asked pulling out a pack of fags. "And would you happen to have a light?"

"Nothing but," He answered, then pulled out a zippo. "Only if you say please," Adam joked.

Mina rolled her eyes. "I am not saying please. Anyway, what's your name?"

"Adam," He said, and put the zippo up. Then rolled his eyes, and pulled it back out, throwing it to her.

She caught the lighter easily and lit a cigarette, tossing it back when she was done.

He caught the lighter, and then said, "So I'm guessing your an unwind too?"

"Of course." She replied, smiling dryly, without humor.

"Eh, aren't we all nowadays?" He asked.

"People who's parents arn't monsters." She replied. "Anyway, where're you headed?"

"Canada," Adam said. "Mexico's too hot," He answered.

"Well, I've heard rumors about Arizona..." Mina said thoughtfully, taking a drag.

"What about Arizona?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "I've never heard anything about it."

"Something about there being a secret unwind colony there."

"Hm..." Adam thought for a second. "A secret unwind colony... You sure?" He asked.

"Of course I'm sure." She said a bit sharply.
